Save the Date

greetings from the future: I scheduled this post not thinking about when it would go up. Though it feels weird to leave it here, I'd rather celebrate things I love and artists doing cool things in a small way. I'll also be donating $10 for every calendar sold to the Southern Poverty Law Center!

Greetings blog! I have some fun news for you - I've got two illustrations in Studio on Fire's 2017 desktop calendar!! This was a super fun project for me, and also a big honor. Ever since college I've followed and really admired Studio on Fire's work. Now I get to be a part of this great annual project, along with quite a few other talented illustrators and designers. SO COOL SO COOL!

I'm going to be selling these calendars in a little "pop up shop" I opened just for this great product. Did someone say Christmas present???? GUYS IT'S PERFECT FOR EVERYONE ON YOUR LIST.

(pssst... want free shipping? Just enter code HELLOBLOG when you check out!)

Here are some more photos, including both my illustrations and examples of the different accent colors on the stand (you can pick between silver and black).

waiting line

I want to do the portrait in photos that alli did, but I need time to plug in my hard drive and really sift through my old stuff. So until then, a few things. (p.s. this is hello emma's 200th post, i think?)

I am 100% obsessed with Rifle Paper Co, a fab stationary & print company run by wife Anna Bond and husband Nathan Bond. Anna designs, Nathan manages, I drool. The colors used really make me want to stop writing this blog post and draw more, but alas - I will not. I do plan on buying things from them and adding Anna to my list of most favorite artists.

My other most recent favorite artist is Sofia Arnold, a fellow midwestern (holla atcha, wisconsin!) artist whose sketches and silkscreens make me die on the inside, they're so lovely! As a person who loves making tiny little marks on paper, I find her mark-making enviable.

hello this is a screenshot of hello this is my shop

I'm also going to TRY to start putting more things into my shop. It's more of a "here is a goal, now make the art." rather than a "i will make so much money from this endeavor."

hello.

shop around

back to school

in case you haven't seen it yet, alli and i have updated the shop with plenty of items for the coming school year - like a sweet jumper and a monogrammed cardigan, and more will be on their way!

Whenever we do these big updates, I always get to shopping for myself... today I'm yearning for bib necklaces.

cookoorikoo's is so lovely and charming, but there are TONS of them on etsy that I cannot help but squeal over. THAT ONE, oh, no! THIS ONE! OR THIS ONE?! Want plz.

buy buy birdie

NEW STUFFFFFF

After realizing all of our recent purchases for the shop had a primary color theme, Alli and I thought it only fitting to have a little red balloon photoshoot! We had a LOT of fun and there are tons of cute things to check out.

But also I am obsessed with etsy swimsuits, and am too chicken to buy one because (1) what if I cannot swim in it (vintage swimsuits are sometimes made out of unswimmable materials!) and (2) WHAT IF IT DOESN'T FIT?!?!?! Perhaps in a few paychecks time I will man up and buy one. In the meantime, here: reap the benefits of my doubts:

new stuff in the shop!

Alli and I spent the day today photographing some new items for the shop - the ones above are my finds, but alli's got about five gazillion more things listed, so head on over. Tons of them are totally just in time for a great summer. It was painful for me to take this dress off, once I put it on I was instantly in love.

I am on a hunt for a new pair of sandals, speaking of summertime. I've been trying not to spend money for the rest of the month, but it's hard to resist when there are tons of cheapie knock offs available on GoJane.com - like this and this and this. HELP.
