Sorry it's been all quiet around here recently! I've been working full time during the day and freelancing my lil' patootie off at night... AND (in whatever spare time I have left) I've been hard at work designing an enamel pin with Lisa!

Maybe you remember this special lady? She was a part of the 10 gif poems we created for Dear Claudia a couple months back. The time is finally here! It Will Be Known To Us (volume one) is finished and available for purchase. One snowy afternoon a few weeks ago Allison and I bundled up and, umbrellas and witchy props in hand, set out for her backyard. We gathered up a couple sticks and logs and then Alli got to work. These photos are all hers... and MY GOSH, are they not gorgeous? Girl knows what she's doing.

After another whirlwind weekend (space parties and amazing estate sales oh my) I've just got a few fun programming notes.

First up... FIRST AVE! My font got the super size treatment for a billboard (complete with giant coffee cup) that was placed atop world famous downtown Minneapolis concert venue First Avenue. This place has hosted about five million amazing concerts AND you can see it in Purple Rain. I was, understandably, very excited to go give the billboard a looksee.

Speaking of First Ave, I'm going to see James Blake there at the beginning of May! Have you listened to his new album? So good so goooooood.

Last but not at all least, let's talk about Miserable & Worthless. This awesomely named zine comes from MCAD alumni Tuesday Bassen and her buddy Lyndsay Eyth and is chock full of lady art... including a piece from me! Seriously, pre-order this bad boy while you still can. I can't wait to get mine in the mail!

Inside this little bowl I found at a garage sale there are secrets. 6 little rocks, each to be sealed in a small envelope and attached to the back of each copy of It Will Be Known to Us.

The idea to make these totems came from my love of collecting snippets of nature when I'm in a new place. It's the sort of thing your mom probably did when you took your family vacation to the ocean back when you were young... at least, that's what my mom did. And now I'll do it too, and soon you will have the fruits of my weird, collect-y labor.

We collected them along the shore of Tenmile Lake during our recent trip to the cabin, but hopefully they'll travel much further than the three hour trip back to the Twin Cities. Get the word out! This thing is going to be all sorts of greyscale creepy fun, in one little zine-y package!

Alli took the last two photos in this post, and man. Talk about another lady making some great new work - some of it creepy as well!

Just popping in for a quick "art life" update. I've been working on quite a few projects of late - and am desperately trying to improve my time management skills! Anywho, I finished two illustrations recently that I'm super duper satisfied with, which is a nice feeling. WANNA KNOW MORE ABOUT THEM?

On the left we have the new header image for Erin's lovely blog, Babes in Thriftland. She was a joy to work with, full of fun ideas and lots of wiggle room for me. Plus I got to draw Ace, her uh-DOR-able dog. I like drawing pupsters. Thanks for working with me, Erin!

On the right is the finished version of the little work in progress I posted about last time. You can see the full image here. I've been working with Lisa tirelessly (read: on and off) this whole month on a zine we're calling It Will Be Known to Us. It's all about our interest in crystals and visions and keys and spirits and other creepy things. It's going to be in greyscale, so no color this time around. But like I said, I'm really enjoying the challenge! I'll keep you updated on the progress of this one, bloggie.
