cover girl

Mary Margaret and the Magical Mall

Last year I was approached by my friend Wes (I linked to his IMDB page because I think it is amazingly cool that he has an IMDB page), saying he had a young adult fiction novel he was writing, and did I want to do the cover?

"YESYESYESYESYESYESYES"

I'm always admiring the youth fantasy fiction section when at book stores - from the realism (like this cover by Sam Weber) to the more stylized covers, they're always so fantastic and fun, it always looks like the artists have a good time with them.

Mary Margaret Muma Padruii

The characters in this book were so great to draw, too. Mary is a very realistic young lady to me - at home in a bleek Minnesotan tundra until she's placed in the world of magic that she secretly wishes was real. You should probably read the book... if not just for the wicked Muma Padruii (on the right) who has the most insane description I have ever read (I didn't even do half of it justice in my drawing).

  2. Ah, this is very cool! I'm writing a young adult's book myself, so I'll keep you in mind if it ever gets to the publication stage! I love your little drawings, and now I kind of want to read the book!
